It is amazing to see how far we have come. Six months ago, we were figuring out how to cut a piece of metal tubing with a hacksaw. Today, we rode our nearly completed buggy onto the back field through an ongoing frisbee game, but this time, nobody was pushing! We attached the rear drivetrain and pedaled by ourselves.
Direct drive is given to the rear driver, now making the vehicle self-driven |
The front shock springs were also replaced with looser ones to absorb more bumps and shocks to the wheels |
With the competition less than three weeks away, the construction team has been putting in long hours, coming in at 7 am, working during class, spare, and lunch, and staying after school until five or six o'clock scrambling to get the buggy built in time.
Billy the "cable guy" does his magic with the rear derailleur |
A testament to the amount of work we put in |
Anyone comming to U of T next year, don't hesitate to contact the Human-Powered Vehicles Design Team. We need talent and drive like this!
